Life as a Quest — My Life as a Disciple of Osho
It is very strange. Without any role model, without any idea of what I was looking for since my earliest childhood, I was a seeker from the beginning without understanding that this was inherent in the soul.
Searching for the answer, I devoured hundreds of books, scouring almost the entire European literature. Restlessly, I studied philosophy, theology and religious sciences. One day I stood in the university library and literally heard a clear voice asking: What do you really know? The answer came clearly: Nothing. My studies were over in an instant.
The Turning Point
On July 1, 1984, I stood red-robed in the line of sannyasins in Oregon. Then Bhagwan came. I looked into his eyes. There was absolutely no one inside him — an abysmal nothingness revealed itself, and at the same time an explosion of ecstasy. I was bathed in an unconditional love, formless, endless, incomprehensible.
Tapoban and the Third Teaching
Following our inner voice, we went to Tapoban in Nepal. I will never forget the moment I saw Sw. Arun — I did not perceive the man, but the great cloud of love emanating from him. Arun’s entire life is a life of devotion and trust. He opens every session with the words: “Feel the Master’s presence in your heart.”
Today I finally understand that I have not become a disciple of a body, but of an immortal consciousness that I address as “Osho.” And this alone is the whole teaching of Arun: connect with the eternal presence of Osho. Never speak of him in the past.
